Dumpster Do's

Items You Can Usually Put in Your Dumpster

These common non-hazardous items are generally accepted for cleanouts, remodeling projects, moving prep, garage cleanups, and yard projects.

Household Junk

Furniture, boxes, toys, decor, clothing, bagged clutter, and general cleanout debris.

Light Remodeling Debris

Cabinets, wood, trim, drywall, flooring, doors, fixtures, and other non-hazardous renovation debris.

Boxes & Packaging

Cardboard, packing materials, broken-down boxes, and move-out/move-in cleanup debris.

Yard Debris

Branches, leaves, shrubs, storm cleanup debris, and small landscaping waste. Heavy dirt or large logs should be approved first.

Ask First

Items That May Need Special Handling

Some items are allowed in certain situations, but they can trigger landfill, transfer station, weight, recycling, or handling rules.

Mattresses & Box Springs

Tell us before pickup. Some transfer stations charge separate mattress fees, so we handle these transparently instead of asking customers to hide them.

Appliances

Appliances may require special handling, especially anything with Freon or refrigerant. Please ask before loading refrigerators, freezers, or AC units.

Concrete, Dirt, Brick & Tile

Heavy material can overload a dumpster quickly. These loads may need a smaller fill height, special pricing, or approval before delivery.

Roofing Shingles

Roofing loads are dense and disposal rules can vary. Contact us before booking so we can confirm the right dumpster size and weight expectations.

Wet Paint

Wet paint is accepted only when the container is tightly sealed and secured inside a sealed bag. Never pour paint directly into the dumpster.

Car Batteries & Used Oil

We can recycle car batteries and up to 5 gallons of used motor oil, but these must be left outside the dumpster and mentioned before pickup.

Our recommendation for mattresses and appliances:

Do not hide them in the dumpster. If a disposal facility charges a separate fee, the fairest policy is to disclose the item before pickup and treat the fee as a transparent special-handling charge only when it applies.

Dumpster Don'ts

Items That Should Not Go in the Dumpster

For safety, disposal compliance, and fire prevention, these items should stay out of the dumpster unless we have specifically approved a safe handling method.

!
Chemicals, fuels & flammablesNo gasoline, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, propane tanks, fuel cans, or flammable liquids.
!
Loose liquidsNo loose liquids of any kind. Paint is only accepted when sealed tightly inside a bag.
!

?

Keep debris below the top edge of the dumpster. Overloaded dumpsters may be unsafe to haul and may require unloading before pickup.
Loading Rules

How to Load Your Dumpster the Right Way

A few simple steps help keep your delivery, pickup, and disposal smooth.

Stay Below the Fill Line

Nothing should stick above the top rail. We need to tarp and safely haul the dumpster on public roads.

Watch Heavy Materials

Dirt, concrete, brick, tile, shingles, and wet debris get heavy fast. Ask before loading dense material.

Keep Access Clear

Make sure cars, gates, low branches, basketball goals, and other obstacles do not block pickup.

Bag Small or Messy Items

Bag loose household trash, small debris, dusty materials, and sealed paint containers to reduce spills and windblown debris.

A transparent approach to mattresses, appliances, and special fees

Some disposal facilities charge extra for mattresses, appliances, tires, electronics, or refrigerant-containing items. We do not want customers hiding items, and we also do not want to charge unnecessary fees. The cleanest approach is disclosure first, fair handling second.

1. Tell us first Use a booking note, text photo, or call before pickup if you have a mattress, appliance, tire, or similar item.
2. We confirm handling We will tell you if the item is okay, needs to be separated, or may trigger a disposal facility fee.
3. Fees stay transparent Any special charge should be explained as a disposal/handling pass-through, not a surprise penalty.
Common Questions

Dumpster Rental Do's & Don'ts FAQ

Can I put wet paint in the dumpster?
Yes, but only if the paint container is sealed tightly and placed inside a sealed bag. Do not pour paint into the dumpster or leave loose liquid where it can spill.
No. Lithium batteries are a fire risk and should never be placed in the dumpster. This includes tool batteries, e-bike batteries, laptop batteries, power banks, and battery packs.
Leave car batteries and up to 5 gallons of used motor oil outside the dumpster, clearly visible, and tell us before pickup. We can recycle those items, but they should not be placed inside the dumpster.
Ask first. These items may be accepted, but transfer stations sometimes charge separate disposal or handling fees. We recommend disclosing them before pickup so the process stays transparent.
If debris is above the top rail or the load is unsafe to haul, some items may need to be removed before pickup. Overloaded or overweight dumpsters can also result in extra handling or disposal charges.

Still not sure if something can go in the dumpster?

Text us a picture before loading. We would rather answer the question up front than surprise you later.
